Our Life Enrichment Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements comprehensive activities to enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role brings joy and fun to the residents by ensuring each day has a variety of interesting and engaging activities designed to encourage resident participation., and also serves as a transitional program for residents beginning the process of cognitive decline, but who do not require a secure environment. It’s event planning with a purpose!
Life Enrichment Coordinator Overview:
- Plans and coordinates activities designed to promote socialization among the residents, physical fitness, well being, and spiritual enrichment as well as provides educational opportunities
- Develops individual and group activities that address the interests, needs and abilities of all residents. Leads or supervises designated activities. Assists with activity preparation and clean up
- Maintains and oversees documentation as required by regulations and organizational policies
- Oversees administrative duties involved with organizing events such as reserving rooms, placing/receiving phone calls related to events, working with the transportation department to schedule transportation, etc.
- Attends community/unit specific outings as available and events both on and off campus
- Works to implement Montessori principles of self-directed engagement in all activity programming
- May be required to provide residents with feeding assistance
- May attend resident care conferences and maintain regulatory documentation.
- Supervises the life enrichment assistants
- CPR Certification (Required)
- High School diploma or GED (Required)
- Licensed therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional (preferred)
- Two years of full time employment as a life enrichment/activities professional; at least one year must have been in a health care setting
- Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, creativity, enthusiasm and energy
- Comfortable public speaking in front of groups
- Working knowledge of sanitary practices relating to food handling
- Experience providing quality customer service
