To teach agricultural practices to rural people, Dr. Diamond employed the strategy of introducing practical techniques aimed at felt needs by using indigenous skills, education, and resources. This visual and storytelling presentation will address Dr. Diamond’s work in Chad, guided by his philosophy of international agricultural development.
About the Instructor
James E. Diamond, Ph.D. is dean emeritus of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Delaware Valley University. With his late wife Betty, Dr. Diamond joined the Peace Corps in 1971 and lived overseas for more than 10 years teaching agricultural practices to rural people. Dr. Diamond has published 12 books, including I Did What I Had To Do, which describes his strategies used in the Peace Corps.
