Class Summary

The automobile, being a large visible purchase, has much to say about you and what you value. This talk will trace the influences that have driven the way automobiles have looked at any given time in their history. These influences differ in other countries, so this talk is confined to cars made and marketed in the United States.

About the Instructor

Whitney “Tim” Harkleroad earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from the Pratt Institute in 1964. His first job was in the Styling Studios of the Ford Motor Company before moving to consulting. Jim started his own consulting business, Harkleroad Design Associates, which he ran until 2004. He has owned over 30 cars, including his current Tesla S, a Nissan Leaf, and a 1931 Ford Street Rod.
