Director of Environmental Services

 Our Director of Environmental Services is responsible for the planning, organizing and overall operations of the housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and security departments. The ES Director is a vital part of the Campus Leadership Team with reporting responsibilities to the Executive Director and Living Branches Director of Plant Operations.

 

Director of Environmental Services overview:

  • Plans, coordinates, and implements scheduling of mechanical, electrical, carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance, as well as housekeeping services, laundry operations and campus security.
  • Checks and follows-up on work assignments for results and conformance with company codes and standards this includes the inspection of work completed by outside contractors.
  • Ensures that grounds are maintained to ensure a clean and safe environment. Ensures that machinery and equipment are visually inspected and tested to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Oversees installation, maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems according to blueprints, specifications, manuals and building codes.
  • Acts as Safety Coordinator by updating staff on State required safety information, investigating & reporting of fire alarms to staff & local fire officials, investigating resident incidents in conjunction with staff & providing necessary documentation & follow-up. Chairs staff safety committee & acts as liaison to the resident safety committee.
  • Creates, distributes and maintains all necessary reports and documentation for the department and ensures that the company’s safety and accident records are properly maintained.
  • Provides backup for 24/7 emergency response with both front-line and backup on-call personnel. Provides backup for technical or procedural questions for on-call maintenance personnel.
  • 5+ years in long-term care with supervisory experience
  • Solid knowledge of building systems, cleaning processes and infection control, along with regulatory codes and standards (DOH, DPW, LS)
  • Strong managerial skills to provide guidance and direction, set performance standards and monitor performance of subordinates
