The Assistant Director of Health Care Services at Souderton Mennontie Homes will assist the Director of Health Care Services in the overall operation of the department by providing general direction to the staff by coordinating all functions, staffing of the nursing personnel, new hire orientation and ongoing development and training.  May participate in teaching the Nurse Aide Training Class.  Leads the department in the absence of the Director of Health Care Services. You’ll see your residents light up when you enter the room, help them build friendships, empower them to lead lives of purpose and be vital in ensuring we’re more than just a senior-living center, but a community!

 

Assistant Director of Health Care Services Overview:

  • This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by others under their direction
  • Participates in candidate selection, employee training, discipline, scheduling, evaluation, and maintaining employee records of all department personnel, may include payroll processing.
  • Prepares documentation required by Department of Health for Annual Survey.
  • Investigates all incidents and ensures follow-up and documentation meets Department of Health requirements.
  • Participates in the Quality Assurance process to ensure quality of care and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Performs duties of charge nurse, as required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License
  • CPR certified
  • 2-4 years nursing experience in long-term care, a minimum of one in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of HIPPA rules and regulations and of regulations and guidelines governing long-term care
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations & guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
  • Strong managerial and communication skills to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, has ability to prioritize work and to address emergencies as they may occur
